Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
My real visit to Abu Dhabi began at the beautiful Mosque.

I moved early in the morning; I had already seen it in its illuminated splendor the night before on the drive between the airport and downtown.
Returning to the city again by bus, I had an unusual encounter. A gentleman also got on, accompanied by his hooded raptor, whom I found as my seat neighbor.

By mistake I got as far as the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. Having little time I preferred to wander around what most characterized the city and so I headed to the fish market. Friendly vendors offered me huge and colorful fish despite my pointing out that I was alone and mostly without a kitchen.
I stopped at one of the small restaurants adjacent to the market that gave me a great taste for both palate and wallet with a price lower than what one can pay in Italy, although that we lacked a vinello.
Corniche, the waterfront
To digest, I took a super walk (more than 10 km) on the Corniche (waterfront), an essential stop to be able to say I was visiting Abu Dhabi. I made it all the way to the Qasr Al Watan presidential palace, which I did not enter because I did not even know it existed, since it was not mentioned in my guidebook (it had recently been opened). I admit I was superficial in not looking for alternative information. Grave mistake, going back I would arrange it differently and would have entered it. It would have been enough to look at some of the many fine blogs that do what I don’t know and don’t want to do, give more precise information about what to visit.
I still saw all the skyscrapers, both day and evening lit up.
