I first went to the Dolomites in winter during my college years; together with fellow vacationers, rather than travelers that time.

In those years traveling was not so important to me; everything revolved around friends. My recreational events were completely oriented toward dinners, discos and sports. I often went to the stadium (in the picture I am the one with the dark glasses, in the Cesena corner). There was a lot of talk about women and I didn’t combine anything; but the evenings were a lot of fun.

The ski week

For 2 consecutive winters with a large group of friends, I went on a classic ski week. They were quite atypical weeks because almost every day we would wake up at noon, have a leisurely lunch in the apartment, go out when it was already almost dark, return for busy dinners always in the apartment, and then we would go into the wee hours animating the residence halls’ indoor disco. Being in the Dolomites in winter or anywhere else would have been identical. My friends skied a few times, I was not capable.

Alternative social evenings

Speaking of dinners once we made super onion with sausage and filled with smoke the hallway our apartments overlooked, but also that of many other people; it was like being at a village festival. Another time someone tried to open a can of peeled tomatoes with the bunk bed ladder. As for sleeping, one of my friends and I squeezed into the tub one night because our other friend had met and brought a chick into the apartment.

We used to wake up from those evenings quite upset; we were divided into several apartments and happened to be walking around from one to the other in scantily clad clothing. I remember being behind a friend of mine in boxer shorts, t shirt and Robert Smith hairdo when we passed a little boy our neighbor who like in the cartoons flattened himself to the wall frightened to let us pass.

Among the vacation companions, my inseparable moon boots.

My mythical moon boots here put to bed to rest

The second year because of a university exam I could only join the others for a few days, I relieved myself with two who instead had to return earlier and who leaving early in the morning while we slept By mistake they also took my shoes. For the evening I had no alternative but to stay with the after-skiers.

At some point, also accomplice to the fact that we had run out of alcohol in the small convenience store, I got hot. Unfortunately, at that time it was not so easy to take pictures and I cannot document the scene of me in a white T-shirt and moon boot in the disco.
