The highlight of our trip to Andalusia was in the second part, when we went to Malaga, and especially Cordoba, Granada, and Seville. I thought it was a crime that I had not yet been to such a beautiful area, especially because of the wonderful mix of Arab and European architecture.

Cordoba

Accustomed to going off on my own and thus doing what I pleased, a certain impatience of mine began to mount. As mentioned I managed to see everything I had set out to do, but the tendency not to plan and to throw a lot into my partner’s case began to clash with my being completely different. The climax came on the occasion of the evening of December 31, which in Spain almost everyone celebrates at home.
Seville

Asking around and a bit as I already knew, I got the idea that it would be good to book something, or at least buy something to keep ourselves in the apartment we had just outside the center of Seville. There was no way, and I gave in to his no, come on, let’s go around and see.

The few places that were closed were full and would not accept anyone without a reservation. When I get hungry and see no food possibilities on the horizon, I get nervous. By standing in a long line we found a place to get take-out pizzas bordering on inedible and hot water; at that point, and it was barely 11 p.m., I decided that for me the year would end there and to go to sleep.

Despite that ending, partly due to the fact that we returned to Italy the next day and she came back to me after her tour of European friends, we remained on good terms; so much so that before she returned to Australia, she asked me to marry her!

Granada, not to be missed on a trip to Andalusia
Although the last stop on the Andalusia trip was in Seville, I close with Granada, which I found magical.
