I realized the dream of traveling to Peru in August 2018. Going to the Andes was one of my geographic puns that had been in my head forever. It lasted 17 days and was a group trip with an agency. The destinations were.
- Lima
- Islas Ballestas
- Nazca
- Arequipa
- Colca Canyon
- Lake Titicaca
- Cuzco
- Maras Salt Pans
- Machu Picchu
- Rainbow mountains
This was our itinerary, very classic compared to those who go to Peru.
Trip to Peru and the soothsaying bartender

Mine in Peru was a group trip, and like many others actually, it practically started from the moment I closed the door of my house.
Especially if I have to make long intercontinental trips, I relish every step of the 200 meters to get to the train station in my small town. They are the same ones I do every day, but under those circumstances they have a different flavor: I am going to the other side of the world.
Until a few years ago there was also a small coffee shop where I used to stop before boarding the first in the series of trains I have to take to get to my chosen airport. That morning, serving me coffee and squaring my large backpack, the barista asked:
Where are you going, Peru?
He associated the backpack specifically with a trip to Peru.
Why group travel?
For my first time in South America I decided to go with a group organized by an agency. Doing some research I discovered a new one that, in order to enter the market, proposed the same itinerary and in the same style as another famous one, but at a distinctly advantageous price. I have to say that the organization worked, the guide was very young, but proved to be up to the task, and it also resolved well a snag of which I was a victim myself.

I have always been fascinated by South America: for the incredible landscapes; for the stories of revolutionaries; and for the real and invented characters read in the ever-magical novels written by authors from that world so far removed from our own.
The main reason I decided to go on a group trip was that being hypertensive for years, I feared that thealtitude would give me problems and in that case being with others would help. With greater awareness, for the same reason, years later, I did the opposite and with great satisfaction chose to go to Bolivia alone! While a similar group trip, then with agency, I did in Guatemala, Honduras and Belize .
