Group travel agency

The trip to Central America was my first with a famous agency that has been organizing so many for so many years; with a theoretically adventurous spirit in which groups of strangers are created.

Distinctions have to be made, because, in my opinion, more than adventurous, they are spartan trips, because somewhere, rightly, the organization has to make money out of it. There is little that is adventurous now, and perhaps the only really adventurous trips are actually dangerous. By now all itineraries have already been plowed by a multitude of people, and for the most popular ones, in August, there can be as many as 4/5 groups of only Italians at the same time. I prefer to choose and organize the trip myself, and for the same adventure, it is possible to spend much less; with a few more amenities and have more genuine contact with the locals.

Regarding the company, clarifications must also be made; the composition of the group (but also the group leader) are obviously crucial to the success of the experience. Sometimes they are not really all strangers, but couples or small groups participate, this obviously can generate particular dynamics. Fortunately, I am someone who can adapt a lot, and I am convinced that the advantage of dealing with strangers involves a period of getting to know them, and so if after a few days, for example, one realizes that someone is unbearable, by now the trip is well underway and one can put up with it, avoiding them and communing more with those who are more like-minded.

The itinerary of the trip to Central America

I titled it a trip to Central America, but it was mostly to Guatemala; it lasted 17 days, in July 2017 and we also went to Honduras and Belize for a few days, the stops were

  • Antigua
  • Chichicastenango
  • Lake Atitlan
  • Copan (Honduras)
  • Semuc Champey
  • Rio Dulce
  • Tikal
  • Caye Caulker (Belize)

Being made by a group travel agency, it has certain constraints, but in this case I can say that we visited the best of the area. This is the itinerary visible on google maps.

Another trip I took to South America with an agency, so similar to this one was to Peru.
