Italiano (Italian)
Walking on the frozen sea for me, born and raised in a warm sea, has always been a myth. I already loved going to the sea in winter, especially with snow, but walking right on it was a dream.

Comparison with colleagues
I first went to Sweden with a particular company. I had participated in a very interesting course funded by the European Community called Educators in Sport or something like that. The project consisted of 3 courses in 3 different countries, besides us also in Spain and Sweden.
This course included for some a summit in Pythias, quite close to the Arctic Circle and Lapland. When they asked me to go I said yes without even thinking about it, and without imagining how interesting it would prove to be.

It was very stimulating to compare with colleagues from such different realities, especially Sweden, where sports are regulated by schools and very much practiced by everyone with a very different mentality. In particular I remember when my Spanish colleague and I explained that in our country if a child does not do well in school, as a punishment, parents sometimes forbid him to play sports. A stunned Swedish colleague said, It‘ s like if someone does badly in math, as punishment they don’t let him do Italian.

A bit of tourism
But they also let us do some sightseeing, including a typical dinner in a big tent and just the walk in the frozen sea. It seemed strange to us, but of course it is normal to eat reindeer meat in those parts, and they sell it at Ikea anyway. Even though we were already in March, the temperature dropped to -30 at night, and for me it was cool just to be in the room warm (and dark in the early afternoon) thinking about the super cold that was outside.
