This is an idea for a trip to Andalusia and Gibraltar done in winter (in my opinion in summer it is too hot there) and as a couple and renting a car. It lasted 8 days, we were in December 2016.

Destinations:

  • Malaga
  • Cadiz
  • Gibraltar
  • Ronda
  • Pueblos Blancos
  • Juzcar ( the city of smurfs)
  • Cordoba
  • Granada
  • Seville

This was our itinerary on google maps

Never experienced bars so much and with so much laughter here we were in Malaga

The perfect travel companion for a trip to Andalusia

That summer I had been in Australia where among other things I had met a girl in Brisbane. We had a fun and even affectionate evening, but nothing more and frankly I took it for granted that we would not see each other again.

She continued to write to me, however (we still talk!). After a few weeks, she told me that she had reengaged with her German ex and that on the spur of the moment they had immediately booked flights to Germany for the Christmas vacations. Perhaps not even a month later she updated me: they had already broken up, this time without a shadow of a doubt for good. He had very expensive and non-refundable plane tickets to Europe. He proposed doing something together so we agreed on 10 days in Spain, his favorite country. For the remaining days she would stay with me a little and use them to visit friends she had scattered between Umbria, Trentino and Bavaria.

Rich dish (Spanish food only) and glass of wine, a constant on the trip to Andalusia
Between alcohol and food I put on 7 kilograms in a week but all of them with gusto here in Seville

Food and alcohol

For my Christmas vacation, I already had ideas, and in addition to Andalusia I proposed Morocco to which she responded with a firm denial because there is no drinking there! In fact we drank and ate a lot, and only Spanish food. In this aspect we definitely got along well, although I had a hard time keeping up with her.

I remember as now the squinted eyes of the bartender to whom she asked for 1 whiskey and 3 coffees for breakfast, all at once. She really liked bars and several times while I went around alleys and squares, she preferred to sit and drink. She especially loved the little bars in small places where she observed the local elders and whiskey. We had different times and ways, however we had a great time and I was able to see everything I had in mind, even though we actually knew each other very little and so it was a gamble.

In a bar in Seville we also found a concertino.

Next stop Monkeys of Gibraltar, Pueblos blancos and the land of smurfs
