My singles cruise experience lasted one week, in July 2014. I only went as part of an organized trip with a group on a cruise ship. I had also done the Nile cruise in the past, but that is a whole other thing and in my opinion not to be missed.

How the singles cruise works

When you say singles cruise, everyone thinks of who knows what. In reality it is simply a group trip among strangers, within a mega group of other strangers, where you can see interesting places, however. The reasons that led me to that choice were several. Besides curiosity about something new, there was of course also the hope of making more or less intimate acquaintances.

Actually, at least in that week it is very difficult to get down to business, if only because almost everyone sleeps in pairs with a stranger of the same sex, and so it is not possibly easy to find enough privacy. Whereas for something over the long term, the difficulty of being far apart to date often happens. In addition, at least in my little group, there were all rather unexperienced people and no one desperately looking, rather there to share a week’s vacation with new acquaintances. It was an experience that I would not repeat, but one that I filed away as positive.

Cruise life

There were 2-3 thousand people in the whole ship, the vast majority of whom were families. We were a small group of 14, including 6 males and 8 females plus a coordinator/entertainer who was in charge of making us group. We had a speed date among ourselves to break the ice, but there was no need to force it. Theoretically once there one could have minded one’s own business as well, but in fact they were all pleasant people, some even interesting, and a nice harmony was created right away.

Generally at night we sailed but even during the day there was the opportunity to wander around the ship and use the facilities and attractions. But apart from a show, considering that the pools were crowded and I don’t like entertainers’ games, I mostly devoted myself to the bars and the restaurant: certainly one of the advantages of these vacations is that there is just no shortage of food.
