The pros of group travel

One advantage of group travel is that for certain destinations, it solves many organization problems. This is even more true if you are alone and have numbered vacation days. Especially in some countries, autonomy by private means is excessively difficult and public transportation has problems. I chose to have this experience precisely because of this.
I had read that renting a car alone was to be avoided in Guatemala because of crime problems, but also environmental and logistical problems. In rainy weather the roads become rivers and everything comes to a standstill, and public transportation was not reliable enough.
Here is one of many testimonies about it; obviously if I had more time and not someone waiting for me at the office, I would have made the trip alone.

Fellow travelers
I was also curious to experience this type of group travel because so many had told me that they are highly chosen by women and I would certainly meet some interesting and compatible ones.
At that time somewhat as a joke, the idea had entered my head that I should get a rich girlfriend who could support me and so I could stop working and travel alone.
Usually in the weeks leading up to departure there are email exchanges and only at the last a chat. I made inferences about my future travel companions based on email addresses and possibly signatures. This is rather silly and unnecessary, as the possibilities are many.
Up until a few days before departure there seemed to be only a few of us and an overwhelming majority of us were male, and that seemed a bummer, while I must say that in hindsight I would have preferred male-only company. It seemed obvious that some were already a couple and of two I had inferred were a gay couple, and instead they were yes two males, but father and son! And by the way they turned out to be those most like-minded to me among the fellow travelers,
On my return, however, I became convinced that on those trips I would never find my soul mate and that I could certainly never get along with a rich one.
