Tours to deserts and oases of Tunisia.
In December 2010 the last time I went to a travel agency, the lady at the counter had no doubt what answer to give me.

I was coming from an intense period from every point of view. I was single again after a 3-year affair (my longest until then). I had thrown myself into female acquaintances a go go; big changes in areas of work. I found myself with a chance to take a bit of a vacation overnight and without even having had a chance to think about it, so I went to an ‘agency to explain my situation.
Fellow travelers

Little did I know yet that I would find myself in a group of about fifty people. Walking around the crowded airport I passed a couple of very pretty girls and thought, maybe they were on my trip two like that. In fact just those two Tuscan cousins along with another one from Friuli, besides being cute they were very nice and we got along great. A sort of little group was created within the group composed mostly of couples and families.
Contrary to what I should say about most experiences like this, I must admit that a great deal of value was added by the company. I could have lost my head for one of the girls but despite myself there was nothing. Afterwards, we kept in touch a minimum even though we never saw each other again.

It is curious how right after those Tunisian days she had a major turning point in her life by veering toward a solid and rewarding love life, while I turned for entirely different shores and had all kinds of things happen to me.
Deserts and oases of Tunisia and the trains to Tozeur
When I read the itinerary, the destination of Tozeur, mentioned in a beautiful song by Franco Battiato and Alice, I treni di Tozeur , immediately jumped out at me.
But I didn’t know that the Sicilian singer-songwriter was referring to the optical effect (mirages) perceived in the salt lake near the oasis. It was one of the most beautiful moments of the tour.

I would call the break at the location where one of the scenes from the first Star Wars was filmed, the desert village where Luke Skywalker lived, now being animated specifically for tourists, artifactual.
The stops in the oases and in general the desert landscapes even seen from the bus were beautiful. But in deserts and oases of Tunisia there was also a bit of town and I remember well the beautiful amphitheater of El Jem. I promised myself to return to see Tunis and Carthage.
