For many people, vacation is just one thing: lying on a sunbed on the beach; I really think the last time it happened to me was when visiting the Tuscan Islands in 2018.

Umbrella chatter on Elba Island

When I am alone, partly to obviate the bloodletting involved in taking a single in our country, I really enjoy camping with my purple tent. Visiting the Tuscan islands means mostly going toElba Island. On one long weekend I made a couple of spectacular treks and a trip to Portoferraio to see where Napoleon had been in exile. On the last afternoon I eyeballed the beach that was in front of my campsite.
I don’t like standing still in the sun at a bathing establishment, especially a crowded one. I usually go to the free beach, but on that occasion I had no alternative. My intention was to read quietly and still my own business. Unfortunately, I could not help but listen to what an ‘elderly lady from Veneto was yelling terribly to her 3 friends from the umbrella next to mine.
I saw on Facebook that Matthew is very concerned; black people are angry because he doesn’t allow their friends to come here; they want to have a revolution and you can’t even use the army
I went back to my tent after taking advantage of just 10 minutes of my salty shade rental. In the following days at home I immediately went and bought a nice camping chair for future needs.

Party on the beach
I who have always been of a nature against organized and group travel, in June 2014 posed the question to myself that for certain trips I could not go away alone. Also that year in particular I was giving myself no chance of meeting the right woman to travel with.
I decided to attend the national gathering of those who take trips with a famous and very large agency that organizes adventurous ones by putting strangers together. I had never (yet) traveled with them. But I thought it would be a good opportunity to understand the environment and follow certain meetings explaining their plans. I must say that I returned with some perplexity. Although then I did take some trips, especially to destinations with organizational difficulties or costs that were prohibitive to me if taken alone.
It was interesting, however, not least because it led me to purchase and inaugurate my own purple tent (later the star of many adventures), and to see beautiful things between meetings, drinks and beach parties with alcoholic beverages included.
At one point I was confronted by a family friend, an established professional, who without even saying hello, worriedly begged me:
Please don’t tell my mom you saw me here, I told her I was going to a cultural weekend!
I (featured photo) was holding two glasses of gin and tonic, and had already had two more.
Visiting the Tuscan Islands, Giglio
The gathering was near Giglio Island, so in addition to visiting it I could also take a look at Orbetello and its lagoon. On the way back I took a nice walk in Maremma Park, where I met a mother boar with her young; good thing we were separated by a fence and she left instead of charging me when she saw me; with their offspring they are very aggressive animals.
From Porto Santo Stefano I took a car ferry that allowed me to go around the coast of Giglio Island, which was beautiful. Without even knowing it, I also found myself near the wreck of the Concordia ship that wrecked there 2 years earlier. Unbelievable that 32 people died, especially because the ship really ran aground near the coast.
