Adventures and travel stories from around the world

Latest stories and excitement not to be missed

Welcome to strange things traveling, where I share my adventures and misadventures from over 61 countries and 81 Italian provinces. As a result, these tales full of emotions, discoveries and unique encounters are not just for travelers or wannabes.

All anecdotes are the single chapter of a specific trip, but can also be found grouped by category (e.g., all encounters); within each trip (or set of trips); or in the list of countries visited

Every two days there will be a new story, where there will be no shortage ofirony and there will also be mishaps and disasters. Join me in this adventure.

Who I am

My name is Fabio, I am Italian and to be precise Romagnolo, but ever since I was a child I felt like a citizen of the world.

Lurking in my little yellow pedal car or red tricycle, I already had the momentum to follow those kids with backpacks as big as I was passing my grandmother’s house on Rimini’s canal port; I wondered who knows where they came from and who knows where they are going, and how much they have to tell.

strange things traveling: what to find here

Since many trips are done solo, almost all of them DIY, this has led me to accumulate unusual experiences. So here you will find tales of recent trips with better (but not too much) photos and more details, but also indelible emotions of past trips that can be useful and interesting always. I give a lot of space to both encounters and misadventures, then to more or less difficult situations to deal with and practical problems that happen on DIY trips. But I also tell about certain situations that can happen in couple or group and organized trips. Therefore you will find many oversights, mistakes and quibbles, both as a novice traveler and as an expert, in short, real life.

strange things traveling: what not to find here

  • Idyllic experiences from everything a wonder
  • Pieces of heart that I would leave around the world
  • Copy and paste from institutional sites to describe monuments
  • super cool and/or retouched photos
  • what you can find in each guide
  • price and menu of restaurants or reviews of public places (so much can change even after a week!).
  • schedules of trains, buses, ships and planes
  • life advice, certainties and absolute truths
  • my selfies, especially with a chicken-ass mouth

Culture but also nature; sea and mountains; winter and then summer; solo mostly, but even in company. I love putting myself out there and taking an interest in every situation, so I often get unusual events.

Here is the area where I was born, raised and where I start my travels from, so where I recharge my batteries and draw insights and ideas: the Romagna region.
